ALIEN Kenner 1979 Mint W Box Complete With Poster AVP Giger
Condition, 39 year old figure, newly unsealed by me, with a good condition box and mint condition inserts! This is the famous 1979 ALIEN from Kenner! This Alien figure which comes with all packaging materials, rare insert and poster, and of course his own original parts, inner jaws, back tubes, head carapace (dome) had never been altered, replaced or customized. This ALIEN itself is in unused, pristine condition from 1979!
These ALIEN figures were prematurely removed from toy shelves as it was a creature from an R rated horror film! I only listed as "used" because even though it was factory sealed when I bought it, I unsealed it to ensure it was actually new and complete!
To my satisfaction, yes it was NEVER PLAYED WITH. The the box has seen better days, but the poster is fresh from'79. The original binders which held him onto the red insert were black ladder style zip ties, which I immediately replaced with standard black zip ties when I popped him back in the box. I replaced the disintegrated beige rubber bands, which held the dome in place for packaging purposes, with new black garter hairbands which won't leave rubber residue on the dome.I tried to reinforced the window which was loose, with adhesive, but with little success. There's no fading or rubbing off of chrome arts whatsoever.
Absolutely no caked-on, ground in, dirt because he's never been exposed to bust... The back tubes and spike are totally intact. Tail is tight since it's never been rattled, or pulled. Wrists and legs are intact and tight. The maternal rubber cords that hold the arms in place aren't as elastic as they were 37 years ago, but they are still in place, and the arms can hold a pose.Be gentle though because it is rubber! The head carapace is in awesome shape but it looks like one of the tiny 2mm nubs was shaved off out of the factory.
Shape original, and tinted as it should be. The dome will not stay on securely if you turn him upside-down. The domes never clamped on, even in 79. The dome will sit on the skull as long as it's not being flipped around.
The inner jaw mechanism still works perfectly! The glow in the dark paint on the skull is intact and factory clean. Not a scratch outside the original edgy application. This is my centerpiece and I had some very expensive pieces. But it is time someone else had a chance to be the caretaker of this legendary toy. Giger praised the sculpt of this toy and has expressed that it is a beautiful rendering of his creation. The Tsukuda figure version from Japan is shorter by almost 3 and is made entirely in vinyl with a result of the skull and carapace. The Gentle Giant Jumbo Alien is 24" in height vs the 18" Kenner, 6 taller and has the same articulation but the carapace is clear instead of tinted and the skull paint is slightly different and not as luminous.Also the dome of the gentle giant is smaller than it should be. The Sano statue is approximately the same height. The Hot Toys big chap is ironically less accurate in terms of shape of the extremities particularly the Hands and feet and head.
